Quebec University Libraries identify areas of improvement for the WorldShare Management Services system

Over the summer, libraries were invited to share their work experience after using the WorldShare Management Services (WMS) system for an entire year. This will help working groups who support the evolution of the Shared Services Platform (SSP), and the SSP product manager of the the Quebec University Libraries partnership to identify, in collaboration with OCLC, areas of improvement involving WMS functionality over the next four years.

Two developments under the OCLC contract will also be completed during the year:

  • In Sofia, users will be able to keep track of their search history and receive alerts on saved searches. They will also be able to activate a feature that allows them to use the RVM (Répertoire de vedettes-matière) semantic network. This feature, known as “Search Expansion”, will allow users to obtain accurate results even if they do not use the chosen form when searching;

  • In the WMS Acquisitions module, the second phase of development, intended to facilitate the management of subscription commitments from one fiscal year to the next, should be completed this fall, and developments to help manage automatic demarcation should be completed in the winter of 2022.
